BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Florida A&M’s Iyonnie Sanford and Alexandra Koleva along with Texas Southern’s Angelika Rusin and Alabama State’s Kamrynn Clay for SWAC Volleyball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of regular season competition.
Offensive
Sanford recorded a season-high, match-high 22 kills during FAMU’s 3-2 win at Jackson State. She added a team-high seven kills in the Rattlers' sweep over Mississippi Valley State and finished the weekend with five digs and three blocks
Defensive
Rusin was a key contributor for the Texas Southern Lady Tigers volleyball team this past weekend as she tallied 53 digs. She averaged 5.3 digs per set which ranked her first in the league in that category for this past week of competition.
Setter
Koleva recorded a match-high 40 assists at Jackson State this past week. She finished the Rattlers' SWAC-opening weekend with 44 assists, seven digs, and an assisted block.
Newcomer
Clay played a pivotal role in the Lady Hornets' five-set wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Grambling State to open SWAC play. She tallied 53 assists and averaged 5.30 assists per set. Clay recorded a .414 set percentage and added three service aces and 19 digs.
