BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Florida A&M’s Brooke Lynn Watts, Brooke Hudson, and Camila De La Rosa along with Jackson State’s Hope Briggs for SWAC Volleyball Weekly Honors for their impressive performances during this past week of non-conference play.
Offensive
Watts notched double-digit kills in two of three matches at the FAMU Invitational this past week. She recorded a double-double on a team-high 22 kills with 16 digs versus South Alabama. Watts added 14 kills and eight digs against Stetson. She finished with four kills and two digs versus Georgia Tech.
Defensive
Hudson recorded 20+ digs in back-to-back matches at the FAMU Invitational this past week. She tallied 26 digs versus South Alabama and later racked up 24 digs versus Stetson in a three-set match. She added 13 digs and two service aces against Georgia Tech.
Setter
De La Rosa recorded 30+ assists in back-to-back matches at the FAMU Invitational this past week. She tallied 38 assists versus South Alabama while contributing 31 assists versus Stetson. De La Rosa concluded the week with 14 assists against Georgia Tech while adding six digs in all three matches.
Newcomer
Briggs has been a standout for the Tigers so far this season in her first year. She tallied double figures in kills during JSU’s first two matches over the weekend. Briggs finished with 13 kills and five blocks against Southeast Missouri and 15 kills and three blocks versus Sam Houston. She added eight kills and four blocks to help JSU defeat McNeese State in its final game of the invitational.
