Westbrook was named the Director of Operations with the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the Fall of 2023. He oversees the day-to-day operational functions of the office. Westbrook arrived back to the league office after working at Ashley Furniture Corporation in transportation operations.
 
Previously, he worked at the Conference Office as Director of Strategic Communications after a three-year stint at Elizabeth City State University. In his role as Sports Information/Marketing Director, Westbrook directed Communication for all sports and led marketing efforts for the athletics department.
 
He actively promoted ECSU’s 10 intercollegiate sport teams locally, regional, and nationally. Westbrook directed and supervised the redesign of the department’s official website, with the site averaging more than 100,000 page hits in the first two months launched.
 
He secured over $200,000.00 in sponsorship dollars and in-kind for the athletics department; including partnerships/sponsorships with Chick-Fil-A of Elizabeth City and Albemarle Plantation Sounds Golf Links. Westbrook also secured a $30,000 game guarantee with North Carolina Central University that assisted the football team’s overall budget. 
 
Among a number of new initiatives, Westbrook directed the implementation of video and audio web streaming platforms of Elizabeth City State football, volleyball, basketball, and softball contests online as well as boosted ECSU Athletics social media platforms.
 
In February of 2018, Westbrook was named the Head Coach for the ECSU golf program. His team finished the season fifth in the conference, with senior golfer Tyler Futrell being named to the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s All-Tournament team and to the 2018 CIAA All-Conference team. He also won medalist at the 2018 CIAA Northern Tourney held at Albemarle Plantation Sound Golf Links hosted by Elizabeth City State. Westbrook was named the 2018 ECSU Coach of the Year.  
 
Prior to ECSU, Westbrook served as Sports Information Director at Virginia State University for a short stint, covering and promoting VSU’s 16 intercollegiate sports and serving as the primary spokesman for the department.
 
In 2013, Westbrook returned to his alma mater Jackson State University to serve as assistant manager for media relations; overseeing soccer, women basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, softball, bowling, and as the secondary football contact. He also managed the content for the game timeline on the JSU video board during football contests.   
 
In the fall of 2010, Westbrook served as coordinator for media relations at Alabama State University, overseeing soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, bowling, men’s and women’s golf, and as the secondary women basketball contact. He served as the conference office official statistician for soccer, softball, and football championships during his tenure working in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
 
Westbrook began his career in the sports information department at JSU in 2006. The Houston, Miss. native holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing from “Thee I Love” (Jackson State University). He is an active member of Co-SIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), BC-SIDA (Black College Sports Information Directors of America), and NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
