Adeanah Pooler joined the staff at the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the summer of 2019 as the Associate Commissioner for Internal Operations/Senior Woman Administrator. She was promoted to Deputy Commissioner in April of 2025.
Pooler arrived to the SWAC after previously serving the past ten years as Assistant Athletic Director for Academics at Texas Southern University.
In her current capacity she manages the day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the conference office, assist the Commissioner by implementing initiatives and special projects, evaluates league processes, and evaluates overall staff performance while providing general leadership and oversight for conference personnel.
Pooler also facilitates the selection of the SWAC Woman of the Year and serves as the primary liaison to league membership senior woman administrators.
While at TSU Pooler played a significant role in improving Texas Southern’s academic programs highlighted by an overall increase in student-athlete graduation success rates (GSR) and academic progress rates (APR).
During the 2007-08 athletic year a total of 13 Texas Southern athletics' programs failed to meet NCAA Division I APR standards. After arriving at Texas Southern Pooler wasted no time making her impact felt as she played a vital role in the athletic programs’ improved APR scores.
In 2011 the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) announced the Texas Southern football program as the recipient of the Academic Progress Rate (APR) Most Improved Award for the Southwestern Athletic Conference during the 2011-12 athletic year.
The APR Most Improved Award recognized one institution at each of the 14 FCS conferences that has the highest APR score improvement from the previous year. In addition, the Association also recognized one institution from each conference that has the highest overall APR score.
In addition the TSU athletics program has a current streak of 11 consecutive years of all athletic programs at the university meeting or exceeding APR standards set by the NCAA.
While at Texas Southern Pooler was also instrumental in facilitating the NCAA Academic Accelerating Academic Success Program grant for the university for six years bringing in a total of over $550,000 in grant funding.
Community service initiatives were also a significant highlight during her time at TSU as she wrote and implemented the Save the Children Grant which brought in $98,000 in funds to positively impact youth in the local community.
During her tenure the university saw over 150 student-athletes qualify for the 2018-19 All-SWAC Academic Team highlight by a minimum of 100 student-athletes each year since 2014. Pooler also served as chair for several university committees including the Title IV committee for Athletics at TSU.
Prior to arriving at TSU, Pooler served for six years as Senior Woman Administrator/Academic Enhancement Coordinator in the Department of Athletics at South Carolina State University.
There she was the direct supervisor for the Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Men’s Golf, and Women’s Golf programs and handled all day-to-day operations for each team including budget oversight. At SC State she was also a graduate of the NACWAA /Hers Institute for Administrative Advancement (2007).
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Pooler received both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from South Carolina State University.
During her collegiate playing days, Pooler was a member of the Lady Bulldog Basketball Team from 2000-02 where she was named team captain and was an academic award recipient both seasons.
Before transferring to SC State after her sophomore year, Pooler played basketball and ran track at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Pooler holds membership in the National Association for Academic Advisors (N4A) along with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is married to former SC State football standout Dreak Pooler and the couple has two daughters Alanah and Aliyah.
