Six SWAC Teams highlighted in the Black College Football Top 10 Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-The Southwestern Athletic Conference placed six programs in the top 10 of the Week 2 Black College Football Division I FCS Poll, including three teams among the top four.
 
Jackson State leads the conference contingent at No. 2 after moving up one position from the previous week.
 
The Tigers received 406 points and are followed closely by Alabama State, which remained at No. 3 with 370 points. Prairie View A&M gives the SWAC three of the poll's top four programs, checking in at No. 4 with 336 points.
 
Grambling State remained at No. 6 with 188 points, while Alabama A&M climbed two positions from No. 10 to No. 8 after receiving 168 points. Alcorn State made its first appearance in the top 10 this season, entering the rankings at No. 9 with 100 points.
 
The SWAC also had two additional programs receive votes in this week's poll. Bethune-Cookman received 44 points, while Texas Southern collected 22 points, giving the conference eight programs receiving recognition from voters.
 
South Carolina State remained atop the Division I FCS rankings as the unanimous No. 1 selection, receiving all 26 first-place votes and 520 points.

The Black College Football Poll recognizes the top HBCU football programs competing at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision and NCAA Division II levels. The weekly rankings combine voting from coaches and media members covering HBCU football.
