Arkansas-Pine Bluff Named 2025-26 SWAC Sports Information Staff of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Athletics Sports Information Staff has been named the 2025-26 SWAC Sports Information Staff of the Year. The award was voted on by the league’s sports information directors.

The staff is led by Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications Cameo Stokes, whose storytelling highlights the journeys of UAPB student-athletes.

UAPB’s creative talent featuring Assistant Sports Information Director & Director of Videography Keionte Brown along with a talented group of student assistants have become one of the conference’s most impactful and innovative media teams.

The staffs’ work has elevated the Golden Lions brand, spotlighted UAPB excellence, and significantly expanded the institutions’ visibility to fans, recruits, and alumni nationwide.

In 2025, UAPB’s “Golden by the Numbers” digital performance illustrates the magnitude of this impact as the department generated 106 million impressions, a 61% year-over-year increase from 66 million in 2024, along with 4.3 million engagements across digital platforms.

UAPB content fueled three million Instagram page views on spring football content, added 3,131 new followers to UAPB channels and produced an average of 22,000 views per video on reels and other short-form media.

Under the direction of Stokes, the staff has crafted a unified storytelling message that highlights UAPB student-athletes’ achievements on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s coverage supports multiple sports at a high level, delivering timely, accurate information, compelling features, and high-quality graphics and video that match or exceed industry standards within the league.

From game-day operations and live event coverage to long-form profiles and campaign rollouts, the department has established a model of professionalism and creativity that reflects positively on the entire athletics program.

Brown has received national HBCU recognition as a multi-time Videographer of the Year honoree, underscoring the quality and originality of UAPB’s video storytelling. His work, combined with the department’s overall creative direction, has helped transform Golden Lion Athletics’ social feeds into must-follow accounts for fans across the country and has strengthened the Golden Lions’ digital presence as UAPB content routinely highlights significant matchups and rivalries.

Equally impressive is the department’s investment in student development through its Creative Lions program. This initiative provides student creatives real-world experience in sports media in the areas of photography, videography, digital media and graphics along with social media strategy.

In the last two years, three Creative Lions students have earned SkullSparks creative scholarships and opportunities to attend the SkullSparks conference while placing UAPB among the nation’s most forward-thinking athletic departments in cultivating the next generation of storytellers.

This pipeline not only supports UAPB’s current output but also advances the broader profession of sports information and creative media within the league.
