Texas Southern Claims Third Consecutive SWAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Title

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Texas Southern Tigers claimed to 2026 SWAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field title on Sunday at the Birmingham Crossplex winning in spectacular fashion as the championship also marked three consecutive titles for the Tigers.
 
The Tigers amassed 108 total points at the event behind strong field performances on day one of the event and impressive individual and team performances on day two. Jackson State (97 points) and Florida A&M (82 points) finished in second and third place respectively. 

Arkansas-Pine Bluff claimed first place in the 4x400 meter relay event bringing an official close to the final day of competition. 
 
Texas Southern’s Clyde Duncan was named the Men’s Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year for his efforts in leading the Tigers to the title. Southern’s Michael Fulton was named the Men’s Most Outstanding Field Performer after tallying 16 total individual points. Florida A&M’s Kirk Dawkins was named the Men’s Most Outstanding Track Performer after contributing 22 points for the Rattlers.

A total of four men’s all-time records were broken at this year’s event with Alcorn State’s Trellas Forrest (400m), Grambling State’s Skylar Hundall (5000m), Florida A&M’s Leonard Mustari (60m Hurdles) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (4x400 relay) setting new league marks.
