SWAC Men's Basketball Weekly Awards: Jan. 20

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Bethune-Cookman’s Jakobi Heady, Jackson State’s Daeshun Ruffin, Texas Southern’s Bryce Roberts and Prairie View A&M’s Dontae Horne for SWAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards.

Heady was impressive offensively in a pair of games against Southern and Mississippi Valley State. He posted 44 points, seven rebounds, five assists, three steals, and a block as the Wildcats improved to 3-1 in conference play.
 
Co-Impact
Roberts was a significant presence on both ends of the floor for Texas Southern this past week of competition. He averaged a team leading 23.0 points per game during TSU outing at Alcorn State and Jackson State.
 
Co-Impact
Ruffin averaged 22.5 points and 13.0 assists per game in the two games this week, while also averaging 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. He also finished the week shooting 50.0 (16-of-32) percent from the floor with a pair of three-pointers, while also shooting 78.6 (11-of-14) percent from the free throw line. 

Newcomer 
Horne led the Panthers offensively in both contests this past week, averaging 35.0 points per game, while shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from three-point range. He also contributed 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game against Jackson State and Alcorn State respectively.
