ARLINGTON, Texas- The Prairie View A&M Panthers women's bowling team faced a tough defeat against Belmont Abbey at the ITRC in the NCAA Opening Round. The Panthers struggled to overcome their opponents in this best-of-3 format, marking an end to their post-season with a final score of 2-0.
The Panthers opened the competition with a traditional match, where Belmont Abbey took the lead by scoring 963 against PVAMU's 832. Despite an intense second match in the subsequent baker format—five games in total—Prairie View A&M couldn't turn the tide.
Belmont Abbey secured wins in the first three baker games, with PVAMU clinching the fourth game. However, a win by Belmont Abbey in the decisive fifth game concluded the Panthers' season. Jalyne Myers led the Panthers, scoring the most strikes for her team with a total of ten.
This match marks the Panthers' second NCAA Regionals appearance, the first being in 2023. Despite the day's results, the variance in performance hinted at a promising future under Coach Clark's guidance.
