SWAC Volleyball Weekly Awards: Nov. 4

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Southern’s Ariana Brown, Alabama State’s Brooke Adams, Bethune-Cookman’s Sthefany Carvalho along with Florida A&M’s Makenzie Taylor and Sydney Whitfield its Volleyball Players of the Week for their outstanding performances this past week.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Brown finished the week with 60 kills while adding eight service aces.
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Adams collected 37 digs over the past week, including a match-high 25 in the Hornets win at Bethune-Cookman. She also chipped in with eight assists.
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Carvalho was outstanding again for the Wildcats defensively as they split their final home weekend with a win over AAMU and a five-set loss to Alabama State. She recorded a team-high 42 digs along with 10 assists. 
 
Setter of the Week
Taylor's 81 assists led the team by a wide margin, averaging an impressive 10.13 assists per set.
 
Newcomer of the Week
Whitfield led Florida A&M in both kills (44) and points (52.5).
