BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Prairie View A&M’s Cameron Peters, Grambling State’s Marcellius Johnson and Hayden Benoit along with Alabama State’s Nehemiah Hixon for SWAC Football Weekly Awards. 

Offensive 
Peters turned in a career performance to lead the Panthers to a dominant 48-5 road victory over Alabama A&M. He was impressive through the air while completing 17-of-22 passes for 394 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions. Peters averaged an impressive 23.2 yards per completion while connecting on a long strike of 56 yards.
 
Defensive 
Johnson claimed SWAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after racking up nine tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery during GSU's victory over B-CU. 
 
Specialist 
Hixon's 99-yard kickoff return swung momentum back to the Hornets as ASU grabbed a 14-10 lead in the first quarter. He returned three kickoffs for 125 yards during the game as Alabama State defeated Texas Southern at home 42-24.

Newcomer 
Benoit, a true freshman was named the SWAC Newcomer of the Week after throwing for 220 yards and four touchdowns on 12-of-20 passing in his first collegiate start. His efforts helped GSU defeat Bethune-Cookman 31-23.
