SWAC Volleyball Weekly Awards: Oct. 29

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State’s Jyriah Morgan and Kamrynn Clay, Jackson State’s Jayden James and Kamiera Watkins, Prairie View A&M’s Leila Smalls and Florida A&M’s LaDonna Trantham its Volleyball Players of the Week for their outstanding performances this past week.
 
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Morgan played in three matches last week collecting 59 kills including a career-high 33 against Prairie View A&M. She also added eight digs and four total blocks.
 
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
James earned 4.28 points per set, while averaging 4.71 kps and hitting .313 in two conference victories for the Lady Tigers during this past week of competition. 
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Smalls was a key contributor for Prairie View A&M during this past week of competition as she led her team in total digs averaging 5.0 digs per set. 
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Watkins earned 8 blocks (3 BS, 5 BA) to average 1.14 bps in two conference victories for the Lady Tigers during this past week of competition. 
 
Setter of the Week
Clay collected 114 assists over the week, with her weekly high coming against Prairie View A&M with 42. She had 37 assists at Alabama A&M and added 35 against Texas Southern.
 
Newcomer of the Week
Trantham led Florida A&M in kills and maintained a .383 attack percentage during this past week of competition.
