SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors: Jan. 7

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alabama State’s Cordasia Harris, Alabama A&M’s Darian Burgin and Texas Southern’s Treasure Thompson its SWAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for their impressive performances during games played this past week.

Harris posted a pair of double-doubles to lead ASU to wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State. Harris scored 19 points and had 13 rebounds against UAPB and totaled 28 points and 16 rebounds against MVSU.

Burgin was the leading offensive contributor for Alabama A&M during conference outings against Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She averaged a team high 14.5 points per game scoring a total of 28 points over the two-game span.
 
Thompson was impressive this past week for Texas Southern during Lady Tigers home wins over Southern and Grambling State. She averaged 11.5 points per game to go along with 6.5 rebounds as she helped lead TSU to a 2-0 start in league play.
