BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Texas Southern’s Kavion McClain, Florida A&M’s Milton Matthews and Jackson State’s Daeshun Ruffin its SWAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week for their impressive performances during games played this past week.
McClain averaged 22.0 points per game this past week during Texas Southern road games at Alabama A&M and Alabama State. He was also a significant contributor rebounding for TSU averaging 5.5 rebounds per game.
Matthews had impressive performances for Florida A&M during road outings at Jackson State at Alcorn State this past week. He averaged 16.5 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field as FAMU won its fourth consecutive game.
Ruffin paced the Jackson State Tigers offensive attack as he averaged 23.5 points per game during JSU games against Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. He was the second leading scorer in the league this past week and also lead the Tigers in assists with five per game.
