BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Bethune-Cookman’s Cam'Ron Ransom, Grambling State’s Brenden Barley, Florida A&M’s Cameron Gillis and Texas Southern’s Quintell Quinn for SWAC Football Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of regular season competition.
Offensive
Ransom was impressive in his third start of the season as he opened the contest with 12 straight completions. He went 22-31 for 382 yards and three touchdowns. Ransom also rushed 11 times for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive
Barley tallied his nation leading third interception of the season during Grambling State's 41-20 victory over Jackson State on Saturday. He has made an interception in each of GSU's past three games and also contributed seven tackles with four solo stops against JSU.
Specialist
Gillis went 4-4 in field goal attempts for the Florida A&M Rattler during their non-conference outing versus Troy. He converted field goal attempts from 22, 29, 31, and 43 yards out totaling 12 points for FAMU.
Newcomer
Quinn led Texas Southern with 149 rushing yards on 23 carries at Lamar in his first career start. He averaged 6.5 yards per rushing attempt with a long run of 37 yards.
