BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Mekhi Hagens, Grambling State’s Andrew Jones, Bethune-Cookman’s Darnell Deas and Alcorn State’s Xzavier Vaughn for SWAC Football Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of regular season competition.
Offensive
Hagens' led Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s passing attack this past weekend versus Tennessee State with 276 passing yards. He also contributed three touchdown passes with no interceptions.
Defensive
Jones tallied 13 tackles with seven solo stops and 2.0 tackles for loss this past weekend versus Texas A&M-Commerce. He was a significant contributor for a Grambling State team that defeated TAMUC by a score of 35-28.
Specialist
Deas showcased his electric speed and athleticism with a pair of kickoff return touchdowns against FBS opponent Western Michigan. He returned a total of four kickoffs for 225 yards and two scores in the game.
Newcomer
Vaughn was a key contributor for Alcorn State during the Brave’s non-conference win over Edward Waters. He was effective through the air and on ground securing a total of four touchdowns.
