Southern Jaguars Baseball Defeats LSU 12-7

BATON ROUGE, La.– The Southern Jaguars dominated the defending national champions LSU, on Monday night led by Tyeler Hawkins with three hits, three runs and three RBIs in front of 10,222 fans at Alex Box Stadium. The final score of the game was 12-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Jags jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning off a three-run homerun by Hawkins. Southern held the Tigers to only four hits on the night.

Harris picked up his first win of the season pitching four innings while giving up five runs and four hits after throwing 76 pitches. Burkett II picked up his third save of the season throwing 27 pitches in two innings while giving no hits or runs.

  • Southern finished the game with eleven hits and LSU finished with four hits.
  • Six different Jaguars batters recorded a hit on the night. Tyeler Hawkins finished the day with three hits off six at bats and three RBIs, while Jalon Mack, Kameron Byrd and White finished the night with two hits each. 
  • Southern finished the game with two errors, while LSU finished with three errors on the night.
  • Southern’s Logan Sanders and KJ White scored the Jaguars first runs of the night off a three-run homer across the left field wall by Hawkins.
