SWAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors: Jan. 9

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Bethune-Cookman’s Dahashon Dyson and Alabama A&M’s Lorenzo Downey its SWAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week for their impressive performances during games played this past week.

Player 
Dyson led an offensive explosion for B-CU, dropping a career-high 30 points in the Wildcats 98-86 win over Florida A&M. He also added four rebounds, five assists, and a steal in the win. Dyson has been one of the best scorers in the conference this season, sitting inside the top ten in points per game at 14.4 ppg. He also ranks eighth in three-point field goals with 24.

Impact
Downey nearly averaged a double-double as he tallied 11.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in road wins against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State. He shot 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from the floor and was perfect (2-for-2) at the free-throw line. Downey also pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds in a 63-62 win at UAPB on Saturday and followed that performance with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, in a 78-70 victory against Mississippi Valley State on Monday.
