BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Florida A&M’s Jeremy Moussa, Grambling State’s Lewis Matthews and Tylon Williams along with Southern’s Joshua Griffin its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their impressive performances during games played this past weekend.
Offense
Moussa led the Rattlers to their 16th straight win in Bragg Memorial Stadium after going 18-27 for 271 yards and three touchdowns. He especially shined in the third quarter, completing nine of his ten passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns.
Defense
Matthews had a big day for Grambling State in its 58-22 victory over Florida Memorial. The senior linebacker racked up 11 total tackles with a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Newcomer
Williams had a breakout game for Grambling State this past weekend. He tallied three receptions for 102 yards including a 67-yard touchdown reception.
Specialist
Griffin connected on two field goals and two extra points during the Jaguars 20-10 victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday night. He also contributed four kickoffs averaging 64.5 yards per kick.
