SWAC Football Weekly Honors: Sept. 11

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alabama A&M’s Ryan Morrow and Terrell Gardner along with Florida A&M’s Isaiah Major and Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Johness Davis its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their impressive performances during games played this past weekend. 

Offense
Morrow was a key contributor for Alabama A&M’s offensive unit during the Bulldogs home opener versus Lane. He rushed 18 times tallying a total of 191 rushing yards to go along with three touchdowns.  

Defense
Major was all over the field during Florida A&M’s non-conference road outing at South Florida on Saturday. He finished the game with 11 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks. Major and the Rattlers defense held the USF offense to less than 350 yards after they had over 500+ yards at Western Kentucky during week one.
 
Newcomer
Davis put on a show during Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s non-conference outing versus Tennessee State at the Southern Heritage Classic. He had 24 carries for 167 yards, including a four-yard touchdown and caught three passes for 46 yards, while producing eight first downs.

Specialist
Gardner returned three punts for 95 total yards against Lane on Saturday. He contributed a long return of 69 yards which resulted in a touchdown that gave Alabama A&M a 51-13 lead which was subsequently the final score of the contest.
