This past season the Southwestern Athletic Conference crowned champions in 18 sports. In what was a remarkable athletic year, we look back at the teams that emerged as league champions. Our next flashback features the 2023 SWAC Women's Bowling Champions Prairie View A&M University.
ARLINGTON, Texas- The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers claimed their third title in the past four tournaments as they defeated Alabama State 4-1 in a best of seven (Baker Format) at the 2023 SWAC Bowling Tournament at the Bowling ITRC.
Prairie View A&M was led by tournament Most Valuable Bowler Stephanie Vasquez. Vasquez concluded the event with the highest pinfall average (227.0) as she was a key contributor for PVAMU.
Prairie View A&M claimed game one (181-179), game two (211-185), before falling in game three of the match (197-180). The Lady Panthers rebounded to claim game four (200-162) and game five (179-161).
The win clinches a berth in the upcoming 2023 NCAA Women’s Bowling Tournament for the Lady Panthers marking what will be PVAMU’s third appearance in the event in the last four seasons in which the tournament has been held.
