SWAC Volleyball Weekly Honors: Oct. 31

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Jackson State’s Alexis Williams, Hope Briggs and Jordan Jones along with Prairie View A&M’s Leah Lawson for SWAC Volleyball Weekly Honors for their impressive performances during this past week of conference play.
 
Offensive
Williams was a key contributor for Jackson State this past week as she assisted JSU with tallying a 3-0 mark at the SWAC West Cluster. She tallied 57 kills, eight aces, and 44 digs at the event.
 
Defensive
Jones was a key contributor for Jackson State this past week as she assisted JSU with tallying a 3-0 mark at the SWAC West Cluster. She tallied 28 kills, 20 blocks and 39 points.
 
Setter
Lawson hit a career mark of 2,000 assists after dishing out 101 assists in the three matches played this past week. She also contributed three kills, two service aces, 25 digs, and four block assists at the SWAC West Cluster.

Newcomer
Briggs was a key contributor for Jackson State this past week as she assisted JSU with tallying a 3-0 mark at the SWAC West Cluster. She tallied 33 kills, 14 blocks, and 41 points at the event.

Current championship competition offered by the league includes competition for men in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, and Tennis.

Women’s competition is offered in the sports of Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball.
