SWAC Football Weekly Honors: Oct. 9

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Florida A&M’s Jeremy Moussa, Alabama State’s Colton Adams and Jayden John along with Jackson State’s Irv Mulligan its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their impressive performances during games played this past weekend. 

Offense
Moussa threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns during Florida A&M’s 26-19 win at Southern. He also led the Rattlers to two scoring drives in the fourth quarter after FAMU fell behind by a score if 19-16, including the game-winning touchdown pass to Jamari Gassett with 2:44 remaining in regulation.

Defense
Adams recorded double-figure tackles for the fourth time in five games this season as Alabama State defeated Bethune-Cookman by a score of 19-14. He contributed 13 total tackles highlighted by six solo stops, a sack and two tackles for loss. Adams also blocked a field goal attempt to round out an impressive stat line versus the Wildcats.
 
Specialist
John made two 24-yard field goals during Alabama State's 19-14 win over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. His fourth-quarter field goal put the Hornets ahead by a score of 19-14 with 14:20 remaining in regulation.

Newcomer
Mulligan contributed 23 carries for 115 yards with a long run of 24-yards to help lead JSU to a 45-30 win against Alabama A&M in the Gulf Coast Challenge. His efforts helped the Tigers capture their third consecutive win against the Bulldogs in the series.
