BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alcorn State’s Aaron Allen and Noah Kiani along with Southern’s Ckelby Givens and Grambling State’s Tanner Rinker its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their impressive performances during games played this past weekend.

Offense
Allen went 32-of-46 for 370 yards and two touchdown passes along with six carries for 36 yards against Alabama State. He led the Braves on a game timing drive in the fourth quarter to force overtime. In large part due to his efforts the Braves were able to capture a 23-20 win over ASU to move to 1-1 in conference play.

Defense
Givens played a vital part in the Jaguars defensive success on Saturday night, leading the charge with nine tackles, four tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks to go along with two quarterback hurries. He has been a dominating force up front for the Jaguars this season.

Specialist
Kiani was 3-of-4 on field goals including the 24-yard attempt to force overtime for Alcorn State versus Alabama State. He connected on the game-winning field goal in overtime helping the Braves capture a 23-20 win over ASU.

Newcomer
Rinker was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts for Grambling State this past weekend against Prairie View A&M. He added two PATs to help Grambling State defeat PVAMU 35-20 on Saturday night snapping a five-game skid versus the Panthers.
