BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southern Jaguars enter the 2022 season under new head coach Eric Dooley. Dooley is no stranger to Southern as he was on legendary Coach Pete Richardson’s staff at SU from 1997-2010. He returns to "The Bluff" after spending the previous four seasons at the helm of the Prairie View A&M football program.
 
The Jaguars' last appearance in Southwestern Athletic Conference title game was in 2019. Southern finished third in the SWAC West Division last season with an overall record of 4-7.
 
Five Jaguars were selected as members of the 2022 Preseason All-SWAC Team highlighted by offensive linemen Dallas Black (First Team), offensive lineman Jermiah Stafford (Second Team), offensive lineman Brain Williams (Second Team), defensive linemen Jason Dumas (First Team) and defensive lineman Jordan Lewis (First Team).

The Jaguars will open the season at home against Florida Memorial on Saturday, September 3^rd. The listing of upcoming SWAC football broadcasts featuring Southern can be found below.
