HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Tigers enter the 2022 season looking to build upon the momentum from a season in which they dropped several closely contested games while finishing the season with a 3-8 overall record.
For the first time since 2016, Texas Southern returns a quarterback that passed for 2,000-yard from the previous season for the first time since 2010 in quarterback Andrew Body.
A sophomore from Corpus Christi, Texas, Body arrived at TSU after a decorated high school career and it only took two games for the hype to become a reality as he took his first snap in the second half against Baylor before starting his first game at Rice which turned into a barn-burner after throwing for 353 yards and rushing for 62 yards.
Body would eventually finish the season as the TSU single-season record holder in total offense with 265.9 yards per game while finishing second in the SWAC and fourth-all time in single-season passing at TSU with 2,017 passing yards. With an exciting talent such as Body back to lead the offense Texas Southern will look to soar to even higher heights with more experience.
The Tigers will open the season on Saturday, September 3 on the road against the Prairie View A&M Panthers at the Labor Day Classic. The listing of upcoming SWAC football broadcasts featuring Texas Southern can be found below.
