SWAC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors: Feb. 22

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State’s Ayana Emmanuel and Texas Southern’s Adriana Avent for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.

Player of the Week
Emmanuel had phenomenal games during Alabama State’s last two outings while averaging 34.0 points per game. She scored a game-high 41 points during an ASU overtime contest against Bethune-Cookman. During that game she also contributed eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Against Florida A&M she scored 27 points to go along with seven rebounds, two steals, and one assist.

Impact Player of the Week
Avent contributed outstanding performance this past week averaging 28.5 points per game while shooting 48-percent from the field. Against Mississippi Valley State she scored a game-high 32 points while gathering six rebounds and adding two assists and two steals. Versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff she scored 25 points to go along with eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
