BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Jackson State's Ameshya Williams-Holliday and Texas Southern’s Andriana Avent for SWAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.
Player of the Week
Williams-Holliday continued to dominate under the basket as she contributed back-to-back double-double performances to help push Jackson State to an undefeated 9-0 mark in league play. Against Grambling State, Williams-Holliday scored 23 points while collecting 11 rebounds, an assist, block, and steal. Against Southern, she scored 17 points, gathered 14 rebounds, and added a steal and a block to her game.
Impact Player of the Week
Avent had a phenomenal off-the-bench performance against Prairie View A&M as she helped lead TSU to a 91-77 road win. She scored 23 total points while gathering four rebounds to go along with two assists, a block, and a steal. Avent tallied 20 of her 23 total points in the second half of play.
