SWAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors: Jan. 5

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alabama State’s Kenny Strawbridge and Bethune-Cookman’s Kevin Davis for SWAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during the opening week of conference play.

Player of the Week
Strawbridge led Alabama State to its first road win since January 2021 with a career-high 27 points against Mississippi Valley State. The redshirt sophomore finished the night shooting 68.8 (11-of-16) percent from the floor and 66.7 (4-of-6) percent from beyond the arc for the Hornets. He also finished with four rebounds and three steals in the win.

Impact Player of the Week
Davis starred in the Wildcats' victory over Florida A&M to open SWAC play. He notched a double-double featuring 26 points and 13 rebounds to go along with two blocks and three steals. He made 11-of-17 shots including a three-pointer while also contributing seven offensive rebounds.
