BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Jackson State’s Tristan Jarrett its SWAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and Prairie View A&M’s Jawaun Daniels its SWAC Men’s Basketball Impact Player of the Week for their outstanding performances during games played Feb. 27-Mar.1.
Jarrett (Brownsville, Tenn.) scored 32 points and 13 rebounds versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff this past week leading JSU to victory. He is a key contributor for a Jackson State team that currently stands as one of two unbeaten teams in league play. For the weekend he averaged 24.5 points per game and he currently ranks as the top scorer in the conference (20.7 ppg).
Daniels (Harlem, New York) averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds as he was a key contributor for Prairie View A&M during the Panthers’ past two games. Prairie View A&M currently holds a 11-0 record in league play.
Other notable performances:
- Texas Southern’s Michael Weathers averaged 20.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg and went 15-of-19 from the free throw line this past week. He also shot 50 percent from the field as TSU went 2-0, scoring 23 at Alabama State with seven rebounds and 18 at AAMU.
- Alabama A&M’s Jalen Johnson averaged 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting .577 (15-of-26) from the field over the course of the past two games.
