BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Florida A&M’s Dominique Washington and Irem Ucar along with Bethune-Cookman’s Alleah Dallas, and Southern’s Kyla Carrier for SWAC Volleyball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.
Offensive Player of the Week
Washington had a dominating performance during Florida A&M's sweep over previously undefeated Jackson State, recording 21 kills. She added 11 kills in the Lady Rattler's sweep against Mississippi Valley State, totaling 32 kills. Washington also added 16 digs to her performance.
Defensive Player of the Week
Dallas racked up 14 blocks, including 10 blocks (four solo) on Sunday against Jackson State to tie her for third place in Bethune-Cookman’s record book in blocks in a single game.
Setter of the Week
Ucar had an outstanding performance against Mississippi Valley State and previously undefeated Jackson State recording 75 assists, 15 digs and six kills.
Newcomer of the Week
Carrier set a season and career high in assists (42) against Prairie View A&M and improved on her previous assist high against Texas Southern, recording 47. She helped the Lady Jaguars go 1-1 during this past week of conference play.
