SWAC Football Leads FCS in Attendance led by JSU

Jackson State ranks first overall in home game attendance

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference continues to set the bar for college football attendance leading all Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) conferences for the 2019 season. 

The SWAC has now led attendance among all FCS conferences for 42 of the past 43 seasons. FCS programs were allowed to play up to 12 regular-season games, one more than in 2018. According to NCAA data, the average crowd size was 7,830. 

SWAC member institution Jackson State was the FCS attendance leader, averaging 33,762 over five home games. Alabama State finished fourth (17,799) and Southern finished seventh (16,957). 

The SWAC led the 13 conferences with 15,266 fans per game followed in the top five by the MEAC (9,782), Big Sky Conference (9,444), CAA Football (8,930) and Missouri Valley Football Conference (8,928).
