BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern, under the direction of third-year head coach Johnny Jones, was selected to finish first in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll. The preseason poll and teams were voted upon by league head coaches and sports information directors.
 
In the predicted order of finish Southern was tabbed to finish second followed by Prairie View A&M, Jackson State, and Alcorn State to round out the top five. Grambling State, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff were selected to finish 6-10 respectively.
 
The league is slated to announce 2020-21 SWAC Preseason Honors and Teams tomorrow (Nov. 3) at 10:30 am CST.
