Texas Southern remains unbeaten in SWAC play

BATON ROUGE, La. – Texas Southern earned a series sweep over Southern during weekend action to remain unblemished in conference play. TSU won Friday’s contest 8-6 and took both sides of a Saturday doubleheader over the Jaguars by scores of 2-1 and 5-3.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M swept Alcorn State during weekend action, clinching the SWAC Eastern Division’s top seed and at least a share of the division title. AAMU won 3-2 on Friday thanks to a walk-off home run by Tamia Lee-Barbadillo and prevailed in Saturday’s games by scores of 1-0 and 5-4.

JACKSON, Miss. – Jackson State clinched the No. 4 seed in the SWAC Eastern Division after picking up two wins in three contests over Mississippi Valley State. The Lady Tigers are tournament bound for the first time since 2015 after a 4-3 win on Friday and a 6-4 victory in game one of a Saturday doubleheader. MVSU won the series finale 10-7.

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas. – Prairie View A&M remained in play for the top seed in the Western Division after a weekend sweep over the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. The Lady Panthers downed UAPB 5-0 and won both Saturday games by scores of 8-0 and 12-4.
