Bowling All-Conference Honors Announced
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its all-conference bowling teams, with Prairie View A&M and Alabama State taking home individual honors. The All-SWAC teams were determined based on combined individual performance during conference play at the SWAC East and West Bowling Roundups.
Prairie View A&M’s Alexes Burton was named Bowler of the Year after posting a league-best average pinfall of 210.04 per game during league play in leading the Lady Panthers to the regular-season championship. The senior bowled a 279 during roundup play, a mark that was tops among all SWAC bowlers during the roundups.
Prairie View A&M also picked up the Freshman of the Year honor, as Crystal Cline earned the award after finishing with the third-best average pinfall total among conference student-athletes (208.22). Her best game in league play was a 277.
Burton and Cline also earned first-team all-conference accolades.
Andrew Chatmon of Alabama State was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Hornets to a 19-5 record in conference play, second-best in the league. Alabama State posted a league-best 27,613 pin count and a 197.23 average during conference play.
