Grambling State sweeps past Texas College
GRAMBLING, La. – The Grambling State University softball team continued its torrid start to the season with a home-opener sweep of Texas College on Wednesday at the GSU Softball Complex. The Lady Tigers (6-0) matched 2001 with the best start this century with 12-0 and 10-1 victories over the Lady Steers as both games ended in the fifth due to the 10-run mercy rule

Jackson State drops midweek twin-bill at Belhaven
JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State University softball team dropped both sides of a doubleheader to Belhaven by scores of 5-4 and 4-3. In game one, the sides battled to a 2-2 tie and in the eighth inning, Jackson State’s Kelsey Smith put the Lady Tigers ahead 3-2, but Allie Gordon won it for Belhaven with a walk-off two-run homer. Sierra Smith scored three runs for JSU, and Alexis Hansard was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In game two, Cheyenne Aplon broke open a scoreless game with a two-run homer for Jackson State in the fourth inning, and S. Smith followed with a two-run double. However, Belhaven put together a five-run sixth inning to go ahead for good. Marlee Blackwell had three hits for Belhaven.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In a midweek contest the Prairie View A&M Softball team fell to ranked #22 Texas A&M 8-0 at Davis Diamond Stadium.

Texas Southern stumbles at Sam Houston State
HUNTSVILLE, Texas- The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University opened their 2019 softball season Wednesday with a 7-2 loss at Sam Houston State. Marissa Padron's two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning provided the runs for the Lady Tigers. Scoring in front of her was Danielle Sonnier, who had one of her two singles in the inning.

Alabama A&M splits versus Cumberland
LEBANON, Tenn.- The Alabama A&M University softball team opened its season with a doubleheader split at Cumberland, winning 3-2 in game one before dropping game two 4-1.
Tamia Lee-Barbadillo was 2-for-4 with a RBI in game one for Alabama A&M, who capitalized on five Cumberland errors to scrap together the win. Lauren Hayden got the win, scattering eight hits and two runs over a complete-game effort.
In game two, AAMU fell behind 3-0 after three innings, and though Lee-Barbadillo hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth to cut into the deficit, Cumberland responded with a run of its own, keeping the Lady Bulldogs’ bats quiet from there.
