Jean tosses no-hitter as Alabama State sweeps doubleheader
ZACHARY, La. – Junior Justine Jean tossed a complete-game no-hitter to cap off a perfect weekend for Alabama State at the Chef Celeste Challenge at Zachary Youth Park. The Lady Hornets (4-0) run-ruled both opponents on Sunday, Prairie View A&M (11-3) and Southern (8-0).

Jackson State falls to Tennessee Tech
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Jackson State University softball team dropped a 7-3 contest to Tennessee Tech Sunday to conclude the Southern Miss-hosted Black and Gold Invitational. JSU led 2-1 heading into the fifth, but surrendered six unanswered runs in the fifth. Destyn Jones hit a RBI double in the bottom of the frame, but the Lady Tigers were unable to do any more damage. Jones received the loss, throwing a complete game while allowing seven runs on eight hits.

MVSU drops contests to Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Illinois
HAMMOND, La. – The Mississippi Valley State University softball team fell 7-3 to host Southeastern Louisiana and 15-3 to Southern Illinois during the final day of the Lion Classic.
The Devilettes were tied 1-1 with SLU going into the fourth inning, but allowed five runs in the frame. Mississippi Valley scrapped two runs together in the fifth, but Southeastern Louisiana posted a run for insurance late. DeShonte Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
The Devilettes fell behind 6-0 after one versus Southern Illinois and were unable to make up ground the rest of the way. Dejanae Gage was 2-for-3 with a run scored for MVSU.

GSU softball off to best start since 2001
ACWORTH, Ga.- The Grambling State softball team swept Clark Atlanta and Lane College on Sunday afternoon to conclude play at the HBCU Division II Tournament as the Lady Tigers are off to their best start since 2001 when the program began that season at 6-0.
