BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi Valley State’s junior guard Ayonna Cotten has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after this past week of play.
 
Cotton averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds last week in two contests for MVSU. She scored 16 points against Southern Mississippi and dished out six assists while knocking down 4-of-6 three-pointers.
 
In the game against Omaha, Cotton tallied a team-high 22 points on 8-of-14 made field goals and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
