BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama State’s Mary Martin Mooneyham and goalkeeper Hrafnhildur Hjaltalin along with Alabama A&M’s Iris Torres have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as Soccer Players of the Week.

Offensive – Mooneyham: The Montgomery, Ala. native netted three goals on the weekend for the Lady Hornets. In a sweep over Alcorn State, the sophomore defender scored two goals (four points) and in a 3-2 victory over Mississippi Valley State, she scored another, adding two more points to her resume for a weekend total of six points.

Defensive
– Torres: Anchored Alabama A&M defensively, while scoring three goals on seven shots this past weekend. The Houston, Texas native also recorded a total of six points, while helping the Lady Bulldogs capture victories over Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State.

Goalkeeper – Hjaltalin: The Kopavogur, Iceland native picked up a pair of victories at goalie this past weekend, while helping the Lady Hornets to four consecutive victories in conference play. She picked up a combined eight saves in two contests played.
