JSU falls to Arkansas thanks to second-half run by Razorbacks
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Marneisha Hamer scored a game-high 21 points and posted eight rebounds as Arkansas rallied in the second half to defeat the Lady Tigers 76-57.
JSU (4-7) went to Hamer early and often in the first half. The Memphis native scored 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. The Lady Tigers defense was a problem for the Lady Razorbacks (11-3) in the opening half. UA was held to 33.3 percent (10-of-38) shooting from the floor and turned the ball over eight times.
Sophomore D'Asia Mitchell scored 12 points, while junior Christina Ellis added 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. The San Diego native also went 2-for-2 at the free-throw line.
The sides battled to a 28-28 tie at the half, and Jackson State led briefly in the second half before a 20-0 Arkansas run put the Lady Tigers in an ultimately insurmountable hole.
JSU won the battle in the paint and out-rebounded the UA 49-40, including a 15-12 margin on the offensive boards. The Lady Tigers also scored 28 points in the paint. Alexis Tolefree led Arkansas with 17 points and three steals..

Grambling falls at Oklahoma State
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Grambling State University women’s basketball team suffered an 86-40 setback in its final non-conference game to Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at Eddie Sutton Court at the Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Grambling State (3-9) trailed by just one at the end of one period, 13-12, but were outscored in the second period, 23-10, as Oklahoma State took a 36-22 lead into the break. The Cowgirls (9-2) continued to take advantage of the sluggish shooting by Grambling State in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Tigers, 27-10, to take a 63-32 lead into the final period.
Jasmine Forte paced the Lady Tigers with 16 points, six rebounds, three steals and one assist. Jazmin Boyd added seven points, three boards and one assist.
Braxtin Miller led Oklahoma State with a game-high 22 points, five assists and three rebounds. Maria Castro chipped in 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals, two assists and one block. Vivian Gray finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, along with four assists, two steals and one blocked shot, while Mariam Gnanou also recorded 11 points, with eight rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
