McKnight, Doss combine for 46 points, but UAPB unable to get win at North Texas
DENTON, Texas –
Martaveous McKnight scored 24 points, and Shaun Doss added 22 but it wasn’t enough for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team to get a victory over North Texas, as the Mean Green prevailed 77-66 during Thursday evening action.

A slow start hampered the Golden Lions, as North Texas opened the game on an 18-2 run. McKnight and Doss would ensure that North Texas couldn’t run away with the game as the first half progressed.

McKnight buried a pair of treys to cut the Mean Green’s lead to single-digits and Doss scored 11 points in the half, including a fast break lay-up that put UAPB within nine at the closing moments of the half.

However, UAPB was done in by another sluggish open to a half, as the Golden Lions were outscored 11-0 to begin the second half, ultimately facing a deficit as large as 21 points. UAPB wasn’t able to get any closer than 11 the rest of the way.

North Texas’ Michael Miller scored 35 points. Both sides committed 16 turnovers, but UAPB was only able to convert the extra chances into seven points, compared to the Mean Green’s 23 points off the Golden Lions’ giveaways.
