Hornets unable to hold halftime lead versus Boise State
BOISE, Idaho –
In a tale of two halves, the Alabama State University men’s basketball team suffered a 67-57 setback at Boise State Wednesday evening in Taco Bell Arena.

Jacoby Ross led the Hornets with 17 points, shooting 4-of-8 from deep. Fausto Pichardo added 11 points and five rebounds.
 
Alabama State shook off an early 6-2 deficit thanks to an 8-0 run that put the Hornets in control. The sides then traded the lead until Leon Daniels buried a three for the Hornets to tie the game 18-18 with 7:19 left. The shot sparked a 15-7 run – highlighted by effective inside scoring – for Alabama Stae, who took a 30-25 lead at intermission.

After Pichardo put Alabama State up seven to open the second half, the Broncos jumped ahead with a 20-1 run to take a 45-33 lead with 12:12 left in the game. Ross scored 13 points for Alabama State from that point on, including a three-pointer that capped a 20-6 surge that brought the team within four with 6:06 left, but the Hornets got no closer.

Justinian Jessup scored 16 points along with six rebounds to lead Boise State. Alex Hobbs added 15 points.

Alabama State outscored Boise State 28-22 in the paint and 16-10 in terms of bench points. The Hornets shot 22-of-59 (37.3 percent) for the game, compared to a 22-of-49 (44.9 percent) line for the Broncos. Boise State outrebounded Alabama State 37-32.
