Panthers notch season-high output in points vs. Ragin’ Cajuns
LAFAYETTE, La. –
The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team scored a season high in points in a 122-90 loss at Louisiana.
 
Taishaun Johnson scored a season high 28 points off the bench to lead three Panthers in double figures. Gary Blackston recorded his second career double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Antione Lister came off the bench with a season-high 13 points.
 
The Panthers shot 42 percent from the field (29-68), including eight three-pointers, and were 24-of-29 from free throw line.
 
Louisiana was on a torrid shooting pace all night, shooting 65 percent from the field, making 14 three-pointers, and was 22-25 from the free-throw line.

JSU rides big first half to win over Fisk
JACKSON, Miss. –
The Jackson State University men’s basketball team pushed aside Fisk by a score of 77-53 Tuesday evening at Lee E. Williams Athletic Assembly Center.

Four Tigers players scored in double figures, led by Jontrell Walker’s 17 points and six rebounds. Jayveous McKinnis (15 points, 12 rebounds) and Chris Hollis (12 points, 12 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles, and Venji Wallis added 13 points and five rebounds.

Up 24-19 with 6:37 left in the first half, Jackson State closed the half on a 16-3 run to take a 40-23 lead into the locker room. The Tigers weren’t threatened the rest of the way, leading by at least 15 and at one point pushing its advantage to as many as 26.

Marcus Summerville led Fisk with 17 points and four steals.

Polk-Hilliard’s double-double not enough for Grambling at ULM
MONROE, La. –
Dallas Polk-Hilliard registered a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome an eight-point halftime deficit as the Grambling State University men’s basketball team dropped a 72-67 decision to Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday night at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
 
The Tigers (4-6), who have dropped their last two games, trailed 28-20 at the half and by as many as 17 points before rallying down the stretch to cut the margin to four points, before eventually falling to the Warhawks.
 
Ivy Smith, Jr., back after being out two games due to an injury, tallied 12 points, three assists and two boards, while Devante Jackson added 12 points, four rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot.
 
Daishon Smith led Louisiana-Monroe (4-4) with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Travis Munnings recorded 16 points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists, while Michael Ertel and JD Williams each added 11 points. Andre Washington paced the Warhawks on the glass with 11 rebounds.

  • Mississippi Valley State dropped a 96-80 contest to Louisiana Tech Tuesday evening at the Thomas Assembly Center. Jordan Evans scored 20 to lead the Delta Devils, and Torico Simmons added 17 points and four assists. MVSU fell behind by double-digits after a 10-4 La. Tech run to open the second half, and despite a few spurts of offense, were unable to make up enough ground on the Bulldogs, who led by at least seven the rest of the way. DaQuan Bracey scored 24 points with eight assists for La. Tech, and Oliver Powell added 22.
