Parker scores 18, but Devilettes fall at Nicholls State
THIBODAUX, La. –
Kristy Parker dropped 18 points for Mississippi Valley State, but the Devilettes were unable to slow down Nicholls State during a 72-47 loss to the Lady Colonels Saturday afternoon at David R. Stopher Gymnasium.

Parker was the lone Devilette player in double figures, as Valley struggled from the field. MVSU shot just 30 percent during the game (18-of-60). The Devilettes battled early on until a 12-4 run by Nicholls State handed the home-standing Colonels a 22-14 lead at the end of one.

From that point, the Devilettes were unable to make up any ground, and Nicholls pushed its lead out of reach with a 14-5 run in the fourth that resulted in a 24-point advantage down the stretch.

Cassidy Barrios led the way for Nicholls State, scoring 24 points with 16 rebounds and five assists. Chrystal Ezechukwu added 15 points with eight boards. MVSU was outrebounded 57-25.
 
Four Lady Hornets notch double-figure scoring efforts in win over Mobile
MONTGOMERY, Ala. –
Four players scored in double figures for Alabama State as the Lady Hornets were able to hold off the University of Mobile 69-63 in nonconference action at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Saturday afternoon.

Jayla Crawford paced the way for Alabama State (1-5) with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Ayana Emmanuel added 17 points and five steals. Taylor Aikerson chipped in 11 points and Shmya Ward added 10 points and seven rebounds in the win.
 
Alabama State jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead to start the game, but Mobile answered quickly with balanced scoring to pull within 19-14 to end the opening stanza. The Lady Hornets created some separation in the second quarter, hitting an Emmanuel three-pointer and forcing 15 Rams turnovers to take a 39-31 halftime lead.
 
Mobile (3-5) cut the lead to single digits in the fourth quarter after a Paula Tattari 3-pointer with 7:15. The Rams could get no closer than two points after a three-point play by Jordyn York to cut the lead to 60-58 with 5:30 left in regulation. Alabama State closed out the game with four clutch free throws from Courtney Lee to secure the victory.
 
York led Mobile with 19 points, while Tattari added nine points and seven rebounds. For the contest, Alabama State connected on 46.0 (23-of-50) percent of their shots from the floor and 40.0 (4-of-10) percent from beyond the arc. They also connected on 57.6 (19-of-33) percent from the free throw line.

Lady Panthers push past TAMU-CC
EDINBURG, Texas –
The Prairie View A&M women’s basketball team defeated Texas A&M - Corpus Christi 67-59 on Saturday evening in Edinburg, Texas on the final day of the Battle of the Border Tournament.
 
PVAMU gathered an early 8-2 lead in the first quarter to go into the second quarter with a 17-12 lead over AMCC.
 
The Lady Panthers continued their dominate performance in the second quarter, completing a 12-0 run with 6:24 left in the period. They were responsible for 25 out of the 38 points scored and went into the half with a 42-25 lead. Junior guard Dominique Newman led the team with 16 points heading into the half.
 
Throughout the third quarter, the team managed to keep their lead at a sizable length. They led 56-43 after a made jump shot by senior center Artavia Ford in the final seconds of the period.
 
PVAMU slowed down in the fourth quarter, only scoring three points with 3:05 left in the game. However, the team’s slow period didn’t make much of a difference as they were still able to walk away with the 67-59 victory.
 
Senior guard Shala Dobbins put up 21 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Newman followed behind with 20 points, five steals, three assists and one rebound. Ford also chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal.

Dotson leads AAMU past Racers
MURRAY, Ky. –
Ashlyn Dotson recorded a double-double as Alabama A&M topped Murray State 59-53 Saturday night in a non-conference women's basketball game.
 
Dotson led Alabama A&M (2-4) with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Alabama A&M led 30-28 at halftime.
 
Nigeria Jones finished with 12 points for Alabama A&M, while Jameica Cobb scored 10. Kenya Pye added nine for the Bulldogs.
 
Evelyn Adebayo led Murray State with 15 points.
