Texas Southern’s upset bid falls short at Tulane
NEW ORLEANS –
Texas Southern (0-1) had four players in double-figures, but it was not enough to push the Lady Tigers past Tulane in their season opener as they fell 62-56 to the Green Wave Thursday evening.

Down just two at the half, Texas Southern ran into trouble in the third quarter as – following a Turner three-ball that put TSU ahead 27-26 – Tulane scrapped together a 10-4 run to pull in front. The Green Wave managed to push its lead to double-digits in the fourth, and Texas Southern could not get any closer than four points.

TSU forced 31 turnovers compared to 22 committed, and the Lady Tigers outscored Tulane 32-24 in the paint. However, Tulane held a 30-4 scoring advantage in bench points. Sierra Cheatham led Tulane with 17 points while making 5-of-7 treys.
