Loyola-Chicago 80, Grambling State 64
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Grambling State University men’s basketball team could not recover from a late first-half run by Loyola-Chicago as the Tigers dropped a 80-64 decision to the Ramblers on Friday night at Gentile Arena.
Grambling State (1-2) tied the game at 25 with five minutes left in the first half, but trailed 40-29 at the break. Loyola-Chicago used a 14-0 run midway through the second half to put the game away.
Dallas Polk-Hilliard led the Tigers in scoring with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting. He added five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Ivy Smith, Jr. registered 10 points, six assists, three boards and two steals, while Devante Jackson recorded 10 points, a team-high eight rebounds and one steal.

Vanderbilt 79, Alcorn State 54
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt was able to shake off the Alcorn State University men's basketball program in the second half for a 79-54 final Friday evening at Memorial Gymnasium.
A closely contested first half had Alcorn (1-2) down just 26-25 with 4:52 to go. The Commodores (3-0) ended the first half strong to build a 37-29 lead, but the Braves didn't go away early in the second. It wasn't until a pair of 7-0 runs pushed Vandy's lead up to 20 at the 6:27 mark, and Alcorn just fell too far behind.
Sophomore Troymain Crosby tallied a team-high 11 points. Junior Deshaw Andrews registered 10 points and seven rebounds. Junior Devon Brewer had a solid outing off the bench with seven points and eight rebounds.

Boise State 70, Jackson State 53
BOISE, ID – Jackson State led 27-26 at halftime with a plus five advantage in rebounds, but were outscored by 18 and were outrebounded by a margin of seven thereafter.
The Broncos started with an 8-0 run to open the second half on a put back dunk by Derrick Alston, a hook shot by Zach Haney, a put back jumper by RJ Williams and a pair of free throws from Williams to take a 34-27 lead they would not relinquish.
Venjile Wallis shot 9-of-11 from the field, scored a game-high 21 points and snared five rebounds for the Tigers (0-3).
