Frigid shooting proves costly for UAPB at Oregon State
CORVALLIS, Ore. –
Arkansas-Pine Bluff fell 89-33 to Oregon State Wednesday afternoon at Gill Coliseum.

Sha’Kendra Tillry led UAPB with seven points, and Noe’ll Taylor added six points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.

The Lady Lions shot just 20.3 percent (12-59) from the floor and were slow to get going out of the gate. After the sides traded baskets early on, UAPB allowed Oregon State to score the first quarter’s final 22 points, and the Lady Lions did not find the bottom of the twine for the final 7:20 of the frame.

Tillry broke the cold snap with a basket to begin the second, but the Lady Lions were unable to slow down the Beavers. Oregon State carried a 48-10 lead into the break, and despite a much better third for UAPB – the Lady Lions scored nearly half of their points in the period – the deficit was too much to overcome.

UAPB surrendered 48 boards to Oregon State, corralling 27 of their own. The Lady Lions were outscored 42-10 in the paint.

Oregon State’s Mikayla Pivec put up a double-double, going for 12 points, 14 rebounds and four steals, and Destiny Slocum finished with 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting along with 11 assists.
