Lady Tigers undone by hot shooting Mavericks
ARLINGTON, Texas –
Jackson State fell 99-63 to Texas-Arlington Saturday afternoon at College Park Center despite a 16-point, seven-rebound effort by Marneisha Hamer.

Jackson State’s Kaisah Lucky netted 12 points with three helpers, and Christina Ellis added 11 points with five rebounds.

The Lady Tigers ended the first quarter down four, and a layup by Chelsea Causey put JSU within one basket of the Mavericks early in the second quarter. At that point UTA found its stroke from the field, connecting at an 83-percent clip (10-of-12) during the stanza, and at intermission the Lady Tigers were left facing a 16-point deficit.

The Lady Tigers were unable to make up the necessary ground as Texas-Arlington pushed its lead to as many as 41 in the third, ultimately knocking down 59 percent of its shots during the game.

Lady Braves fall at UTEP
EL PASO, Texas –
A cold shooting display did in the Alcorn State Lady Braves during a 77-51 loss at Texas-El Paso Saturday evening at the Don Haskins Center.

The Lady Braves managed to connect on just 30.2 percent from the field (16-of-53).

Alcorn fell behind 12-2 over the first 5:00 of the game. Though the Lady Braves stormed back to get within four as the first wound down, the second quarter was a different story as the Miners rebuilt their lead to double-digits. Jada Hargrove sank a pair of free throws to bring the Lady Braves within nine at one point, but UTEP pulled away in the second half, building its lead to as many as 29.

Jada Hargrove led Alcorn with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals. UTEP had four players in double-figures, led by Zuzanna Puc’s 18 points and seven rebounds.
