Jackson State 7, Southern 2
BOX SCORE
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Jackson State took down Southern, 7-2 to eliminate the Jaguars from the SWAC baseball tournament on Friday.
The Tigers took a 2-0 lead early. Jesus Santana would walk with the bases loaded to allow a run to score, and Jarvis Warner would hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Tigers after one.
The Tigers would add two more runs in the second. Cornelius Copeland and CJ Newsome would each hit RBI singles to make the score 4-0.
Southern would get on the board in the bottom of the inning. Malik Blaise would hit a RBI double to make the score 4-1.
The Tigers would get one run in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings, to make the score 7-1. Southern would add one run in the eighth, but it was unable to complete the comeback, as Jackson State would take the win, eliminating Southern from the tournament.
Copeland would go two-for-four with two RBIs in the win for Jackson State.
Blaise went one-for-three form the plate with one RBI for the Jaguars in the loss.
Prairie View A&M 4, Alcorn State 3

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Prairie View A&M eliminated Alcorn State from the SWAC baseball tournament with a 4-3 win in the second game of the day on Friday.
The Panthers would lead from the outset. Prairie View A&M scored one run in the first, second, and third innings to take a 3-0 lead. Cody Den Beste would hit an RBI double to make the score 1-0.
The Panthers would get its second run of the contest by way of a throwing error by Alcorn State. Den Beste would score on a wild pitch to make the score 3-0. The Panthers would get another run in the fifth.
Alcorn State would rally in the sixth. Justin Barna singled to shortstop to drive in the Braves' first run of the game. Patrick McMahon would later hit a 2 run home run to put the Braves within one.
Prairie View A&M would be able to hang on for the one run win. Alcorn State would be eliminated with the loss.
McMahon would go one-for-four with two RBIs and score one run in the loss for the Braves.
Den Beste would drive in one run on three hits and score two in the win for the Panthers.
Texas Southern 11, Jackson State 2

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Texas Southern defeated Jackson State 11-2 to advance to the championship game of the SWAC baseball tournament.
Texas Southern got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Ryan Jackson would hit a two RBI single to drive in the final two runs of the inning.
JSU would get one run in the bottom of the first. Bryce Brown would score on a walk be Jesus Santana with the bases loaded to make the score 2-1.
Texas Southern would score another run in the second to take the 3-1 lead. JSU would score one run in the bottom of the frame, to make the score 3-2.
From that point on it was all Texas Southern. TSU would score three runs in the fifth, to make the score 6-2.
The Tigers would add one run in the seventh, as well as four runs in the ninth, for the 9 run victory. With the win, the Texas Southern advances to its third consecutive championship game appearance.
CJ Newsome would go two-for-three with one run scored and one RBI to pace Jackson State in the loss.
Jose Camacho tallied 2 hits in six at bats, racking up three RBIs and scoring one run in the win.
Alabama State 25, Prairie View A&M 3
BOX SCORE
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Alabama State defeated Prairie View A&M 25-3 in seven innings to advance to the 2017 SWAC baseball championship game.
Prairie View A&M would take an early 2-1 lead. Entering the third inning, Alabama State exploded for 13 runs to take a 14-2 lead.
ASU would coast from that point on, to take the victory, and advance to the championship game.
Cody Den Beste went two-for-four with one run scored in the loss for the Panthers.
Gustavo Rios went three-for-four with two RBIs and four runs scored.
