Women's OTF Championship: Day Two Recap

NORMAL, Ala. - The 2016 Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships continued Saturday at Alabama A&M University’s Louis Crews Stadium. Events completed today were the Heptathlon, Shot Put, Long Jump, Javelin and 3000m Steeplechase along preliminary heats for sprinting events.

WOMEN’S DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS

Prairie View’s Jada Curbeam held off teammate Camirey Jackson to win the Heptathlon with a total score of 4672. Jackson scored 4542 points to earn second place, and Alabama A&M’s Robyn Hancock finished third with 4084 points.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Sireta Roach took home the gold in the Shot Put with a throw of 15.43m. Grambling’s Kenya Wheeler claimed second place with a throw of 14.75m, and in third was Jackson State’s Latoya Gilding (13.41m).

Kadijah Gordon (Alabama State) cleared 6.01m to win the long jump. Southern’s Ashley Shepard took second with a leap of 5.86m, and coming in third place was Texas Southern’s Breana Dockery (5.83m).

Lori Davis of Alabama State won the javelin event (39.82m), with Alabama A&M’s Chelsea Prather claiming second with a throw of 34.07m and Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Sireta Roach earning third place (33.81m).

Keanna McIntyre of Alabama A&M closed day two with a victory in the 3000m Steeplechase, winning with a time of 11:36.50. Alabama State’s Shakalia Williams (11:46.52) and Sade Lavallias (11:51.67) were second and third, respectively.
